About Us

The East Passyunk Community Center (EPCC) is dedicated to serving all members of our community. The Center is operated by the City of Philadelphia Department of Parks and Recreation (PPR), which launched the Center in August 2015.

Through the City, we have staff members on site to run a wide variety of programs, including after school children activities, basketball leagues, summer camps, senior activities, and much more.

In addition, the Center has an active Advisory Council made up of volunteers who plan, support and expand community outreach. The Council works with the staff in organizing special events, promoting the Center, raising funds for Center needs, and more.

Activities are provided at low-cost or free --- and are available to all!

The 35,000-square-foot Center includes a regulation size indoor basketball court with bleachers, a large activity room, community meeting rooms, offices, restrooms, a computer lab. vending machines, lobby, outdoor bocce court, kitchen, and community gated outdoor area with planters. Our facilities offer a unique and coveted spot in a neighborhood where space is at a premium for all folks to gather.

"The East Passyunk Community Center serves and strengthens our community through a variety of programs for all ages."

Our History

Our large space was built in 1990 by the City of Philadelphia for recreational use. Operations were managed by the Tolentine corporation for many years under a unique contractual arrangement. Public access was limited.

Joseph F. Marino, founding co-chair of the East Passyunk Crossing Civic Association, led the charge to the City to acquire back the building for community use.
The Department of Parks and Recreation assumed control of the building in August 2015 and renamed the Center to reflect the East Passyunk name, with a relaunch designed to create a truly accessible and inviting community center.
